(AP) - It costs a lot of green to get your hands on consumer electronics. Now, an effort is under way to make those products a little more "green," when it comes to environmental issues. This year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is taking a shot at trying to let consumers know high-tech manufacturers are interested in preserving the environment, too. Some manufacturers are touting power adapters that don't waste as much electricity, batteries that are easier to recycle and components that are made from plants, rather than from the plastic parts that are difficult to dispose of. Many electronic devices contain materials like heavy metals, plastics and chemicals in rechargeable batteries that make them a chore to dispose of properly. The problem has grown as the number of new electronic devices grows and people upgrade them more often.
