WASHINGTON (AP) - This isn't what is meant when they talk about a watching a hot movie in the comfort of your own home. Wal-Mart is recalling about 1.5 million DVD players it sold under the Durabrand label. The company says it has received five reports of the players overheating, leading to fires and property damage. No one was hurt in any of the incidents. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of the Durabrand DVD players, which were sold only at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2006 through July 2009. The CPSC warns that the DVD players which were made in China and imported by Wal-Mart, can overheat. The federal agency says consumers who have the DVD player should stop using it and return it to Wal-Mart for a refund.
