Marilyn Philippart does most of her shopping online and was thrilled to know she could get free shipping today.
There are more than 700 stores that participate in this "mini-holiday" like Toys-R-Us, JC Pennys, Macy's and Apple.
Philippart says even though it takes a little work, shopping online has some big advantages and free shipping is high on that list, "Especially right now when there are so many people out of jobs, you're trying to make ends meet with whatever you can. Every extra, every dollar you can buy that little extra something or save it toward Christmas dinner, or Christmas cards."
While it's called "Free Shipping Day" some stores have restrictions, so make sure you read the fine print.
