The day after Christmas marks the start of return season.
There are a few things you need to know before taking something back to the store.
First, know the return policy because most stores let you take something back up to 60 days after it was bought - not after you got it.
That information should be on the receipt.
If you didn't get a receipt, check the store's website for the information.
You also need to be careful with any electronics you want to return.
"When you unwrap your gift and realize then it's something you have or something you don't want - don't open it. As soon as you open it and take it out of the box you may be subject to a re-stocking fee," said Tom Batholomy of the Better Business Bureau.
The Better Business Bureau says some of the fees can add up to 10 to 15 percent of the original cost.
All the hassles can be avoided if you do a little research before heading to the store.
