Several State Employees Credit Union customers have received new credit card numbers and pins that could have been compromised because of a security breach at Heartland Payment Services.
HPS processes payments for more than 250 thousand businesses, mostly small restaurants and retail stores nationwide.
While State Employees Credit Union doesn't use HPS for card transactions, it receives transactions from Visa which have been processed through Heartland.
SECU officials say if you've received a new card, activate it immediately and destroy old cards.
But they also say the HPS breach is expected to affect millions in the country, not just SECU customers.
