RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - People who bought pre-packaged sandwiches from a North Carolina company should look for a seven-digit code, not a six-digit one, to identify products that may contain Listeria.
The state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services originally said the products from Fisher-Rex Sandwich Co. that are subject to recall are identifiable by a six-digit product code that begins with 01. But department spokesman Brian Long said Monday that the the code is seven digits, beginning with 01.
Products with a five-digit code are not subject to a recall.
The recalled products were distributed to convenience stores, gas stations and other retail stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
No illnesses related to the products have been reported so far.
