SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A federal judge is letting a Pennsylvania mom sue Prince's former record label for forcing her to take down her YouTube clip of her baby dancing to "Let's Go Crazy." Universal Music had demanded that Stephanie Lenz of Gallitzen, Pennsylvania, take down the 29-second home video because it allegedly violated copyright laws on the song. A judge in San Jose, California, has ruled Universal needs to consider whether that was considered "fair use." Fair use provisions of copyright law allow segments of copyrighted works to be used in parody, satire, reviews or other limited purposes. It's the first such legal ruling requiring copyright owners to consider fair use of their material before demanding that Internet sites remove it.
