PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A fired TV newscaster is expected to admit in a Philadelphia courtroom Friday that he illegally hacked into a co-anchor's e-mails.
Larry Mendte is charged with illegally viewing hundreds of Alycia Lane's e-mails for more than two years, as leaked information about her personal life contributed to her downfall. Mendte's attorney says his client is cooperating with investigators and will accept full responsibility for his actions.
Mendte and Lane co-anchored the evening broadcasts together for four years at the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia - until Lane's arrest in December after an alleged scuffle with New York police.
Months later, Mendte was fired - and charged in a one-count federal information with illegally accessing a computer.
