`Left Behind' actor starring in upcoming film `Fireproof'

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Actor Kirk Cameron, who starred in the "Left Behind" movies, says he's more excited about the upcoming film "Fireproof," in which he plays a firefighter whose marriage is going up in flames.

"Fireproof" debuts in theaters September 26th. It's the latest film from Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia, which produced "Flywheel" and "Facing the Giants."

Asked if his forthright Christian witness has limited his career, Cameron says he believes the opposite is true. If he had compromised his faith, Cameron says, he probably would have wound up like other former teen actors: dead or in some rehab clinic.

Instead, Kirk Cameron says he's been blessed with a wife of 17 years, six children, an exciting ministry and assurance that his "name is written in heaven."
