GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks wiped away a tear after performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
Sparks is a native of Glendale, Arizona, where the Patriots are taking on the Giants in Super Bowl 42. Sparks is also the daughter of former NFL player Phillippi Sparks
Alicia Keys and Paula Abdul were part of the pregame entertainment. Keys performed a medley of her songs on a stage on the field about an hour and a-half before kickoff.
Abdul premiered a new song, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow," in a recorded segment about 2 hours before the game. She has not released a single in more than a decade.
