LOS ANGELES (AP) - Britney Spears' lawyer says there's no doubt Spears was without a California drivers license when she left the scene of a fender bender in Los Angeles last August.
But the lawyer is fighting the case anyway because he wants to keep Spears' record clean.
The lawyer, Michael Flanagan, has won a delay so he can try to work things out with the prosecutor.
Both Flanagan and the prosecutor have told a judge they can't agree on what law applies to the case. Outside court, Flanagan said the prosecutor wants Spears to plead guilty to a misdemeanor.
Both sides have been given until February 20th to reach a settlement or schedule a trial.
Spears was videotaped last August as she bumped another car while parking her Mercedes-Benz. After looking over the damage from the fender-bender, she left.
