LOS ANGELES (AP) - This is music to the ears of the Grammy people: The writers union is giving the Grammys a thumbs-up.
The Writers Guild of America is granting an interim agreement for next month's Grammy Awards.
This means written material for the show will be covered under a Guild contract and it means writers won't picket.
The Grammy Awards are February 10th in Los Angeles.
The WGA says professional musicians face many of the same issues that writers do "concerning fair compensation for the use of their work in new media."
So, the writers say in the interest of advancing their goal "of achieving a fair contract," their board felt this decision should be made on behalf of, what they call, their "brothers and sisters" in the American Federation of Musicians and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
