LOS ANGELES (AP) - Anyone who has had issues trying to track down a missing spouse to get child or spousal support can appreciate what Kelis is dealing with. Her ex, Nas is now facing a criminal contempt charge for unpaid support in his divorce from Kelis. The rapper has pleaded not guilty - and faces a hearing next month in Los Angeles. Kelis' attorney says Nas is behind some $200,000 behind support payments. Back in December, he was ordered to pay more than $51,000 per month to his former wife and their infant son. The judge handling the divorce says it seems to him that Nas is trying to duck the court orders. But a lawyer for the rapper says it's simply a case of the rapper being unable to pay.
