LOS ANGELES (AP) - To every Boomer boy and girl who had a 'coonskin cap, there's sadness at the news of Fess Parker's passing. Parker died yesterday of natural causes. He was 85. Parker played Davy Crockett on TV in the mid-1950s. Kids at the time scooped up the coonskin caps, lunchboxes, beaded leather belts that spelled-out Davy Crockett and more. But Parker's career leveled off when the Crockett craze died down. He made a TV comeback from 1964-1970 in the adventure series "Daniel Boone." After "Daniel Boone," Parker basically retired from show business, except for guest appearances. He opened a winery and went into real estate development, which included building a hotel by the beach in Santa Barbara, California.
