»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Pitt County Health Department is now offering the Gardasil vaccine free of charge.

In order to qualify for the free shot girls 9-18 years old must meet state requirements.

But if you don't qualify all girls and young women aged 9-26 can pay a fee of $150 per shot.

For full protection three shots are given over a six month period and you are required to complete the series.

Ideally the shot should be given before sexual activity.

Gardasil is a vaccine created to prevent cervical cancer, pre-cancerous genital lesions and genital warts caused by HPV.

To make an appointment you can call the Pitt County Health Department at (252) 902-2449.
