In this week's Just Delete It, we take a look at a new e-mail that claims U.S. election boards will be enforcing rules against passive electioneering on Election Day 2008.

The email claims that voters absolutely must not go to the polls wearing candidate shirts, pins, or hats or they’ll be turned away.

U.S. election laws prohibit “electioneering,” the practice of actively supporting a candidate such a posting signs, passing out pamphlets, etc. near a polling place.

Some states have taken this measure a step further in banning “passive electioneering” which can include shirts, buttons, pins, and hats which include the candidate’s name.

While we’d ordinarily say Just Delete It, in this case it’s not that simple.

It’s up to each and every voter to know the regulations of their local polling place.

If you’d like to learn more about North Carolina’s regulations, just type in the Keyword: Vote to find out more.
