Portland, OR--Officials at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) have found bed bugs inside the hospital.
The bugs were reportedly found last weekend.
The creepy crawlies were scurrying out of a fanny pack that had shared space with other patients belongings.
Hospital officials say the irritating little bugs were also found in offices around the patient admitting area.
Local exterminators say the frequency bed bug infestations in the country are increasing.
They blame laws that forbid the use of pesticides that kill the bloodsucking creatures.
Bed bugs are proving more resistant to newer, safer insecticides.
Exterminators say more adult bugs are being found in places like movie theaters, Laundromats and on public transportation.
Officials at OHSU say they have removed the mattress used by the owner of the fanny pack and steam cleaned the room as a precaution.
All office furniture in the area was removed from the facility to be decontaminated.
