There's new information that the H1N1 flu virus could be more potent than experts thought.

Patients with H1N1 who are sick enough to end up in the hospital often end up getting worse -- fast.

Medical teams from Canada and Mexico reporting in the Journal of the American Medical Association say how younger, previously healthy people quickly develop severe respiratory failure and end up needing critical life support.

The report could provide a valuable snapshot into what americans might experience in the coming months.
