Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary has acquired pieces of what some have called -- "the greatest archeological discovery of the 20th century." We're talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls. The fragments are expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to Fort Worth. Here's KTVT's Carol Cavazos.
These three small scraps of leather and papyrus are expected to have a mammoth affect on Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They're original portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The scraps are actually three intact scriptures - like these - from: Exodus 23, Leviticus 18 and Daniel 6...plus a quill found in the same Qumran cave - east of Israel.
The acquisition came from a reputable European collector and was made possible with a large financial donation from - Gary Loveless - a seminary trustee.
These three sea scroll fragments are expected to draw thousands and thousands of visitors to the city and more importantly students to the seminary.
The ancient scriptures will be put on display in a new chapel to open next year.
