KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) - Many people have made resolutions to lose weight, or just start a healthier lifestyle this year, and Lenoir Memorial Hospital is helping its community get into shape.
Get those weights lifting and your feet moving, its time to “Lighten up Lenoir.
“We’re excited about it and everyone participating is excited about it,” said exercise specialist Matt Hines.
The hospital is staring up new program to help people get active.
It’s a 16 week community weight loss challenge to see who can shed the most pounds.
"There’s going to be prizes for the overall winners who loose the biggest percentage,” explained Hines.
The program encourages teams of four, so you have other people to keep you motivated, but if you prefer to do it by yourself you can do that too.
"You’re competing not only with yourself, your competing against other teams. Like here at the hospital we have different departments that are competing against each other, so it’s really just a fun, competitive challenge for everyone,” said Hines.
The whole program is based online at lightenuplenoir.com
The hospital has set up a website where you can keep track of your weight loss each week.
It’s also full of exercise tips, healthy food recipes and information to keep you informed and motivated.
And it's not just for people who want to lose weight.
"If your goal is to just to exercise more or get in shape, or what ever your goal may be, the website has great information,” Hines said.
Best of all, the whole thing is free.
"It’s a great program and no charge so you don't have anything to lose,” said Hines.
The program starts January 23.
