A man accused of shooting a police officer will spend some time behind bars.

Jerome Wright pled guilty to firearm charges in federal court.

Back in June, 2008, a Goldsboro officer pulled Wright for a routine traffic stop.

It escalated into a gun battle.  Wright hit the officer twice before the officer shot him.

Sentencing is scheduled for early next year.  Wright could get up to 10 years in jail.
