19-Year-Old Riding in Bed of Truck Killed in Greene Co. Accident

In Greene County, Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that left one person dead and two others in the hospital.

Highway Patrol says it occurred near NC 123 at around 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
       
Forty-six-year-old Robyn Byrd was driving a Ford Ranger pick-up truck and lost control of the wheel.
       
Troopers tell Nine On Your Side the vehicle flipped, throwing 19-year-old Ashley Bass from the vehicle.

Troopers say she was sitting in the bed of the truck. They say Bass died on the scene.
       
Emergency workers airlifted the driver and another passenger – Bass’ mother, Jennifer Harper – to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Highway Patrol says they have not yet filed any charges.
