A coroner is trying to figure out how a fisherman died off our coast.

His wife called the Coast Guard last night when her husband didn’t return from a fishing trip.

Coast Guard search crews found the man’s boat early Tuesday morning about 12 miles off the coast of Sneads Ferry.

But he wasn’t in it.

They found his body floating in the water no more than nine miles away.

The Coast Guard says this is the second person who has died fishing alone without life jacket in our state in the past five months.
