RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man has been charged with killing his wife, whose body was found at a construction site near their home in July.

A grand jury indicted Bradley Cooper Monday on a first-degree murder charge in the death of his wife, 34-year-old Nancy Cooper. Through his lawyers, the 34-year-old Cooper has repeatedly insisted he had no part in his wife’s death.

Nancy Cooper was reported missing the afternoon of July 12 by a friend who told police the couple was in the middle of a divorce. Her body was found a two days later about three miles from their Raleigh-area home.

Search warrants released last month indicated Nancy Cooper was working on a plan to return to her native Canada and take the couple’s two children with her.
