There’s no sign of the man wanted by police in connection with Tuesday morning’s deadly drive-by shooting in downtown Greenville.  It happened on East 5th Street just after 2am.
Police say a man fired into a crowd standing outside a club called “The Other Place”, and killed two people in the process.
One was ECU student Edgar Landon Blackley and the other was Charles Andrew Kirby.  Kirby was a manager at a pizza shop across the street.
Witnesses describe the chaotic scene as the shooter the shooter is 32-year-old James Richardson.  They say he was driving a white, older model BMW.
Greenville police say the victims of this shooting were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And as of late Tuesday the place turned into a small memorial in their honor.
Even though the early morning shooting didn’t keeping people from enjoying Greenville’s night life. Some say it’s really a night to honor the victims, “I think everyone should shut down tonight in remembrance of him and out of respect,” said Melissa Bryant.
Word of the shooting spread on campus—where parents and future ECU students were finishing up with student orientation.  By Tuesday the mood on campus was different, but not enough to turn around.
“Drive by shootings happen everywhere—you just can’t say I’m picking this college or that college because nothing happens there,” said parent Monica Fahey.  “It happens all over.“
Those closest to Charles Kirby and Landon Blackley who witnessed the shooting are still trying to understand it.  Police continue to interview everyone involved in the early morning argument inside a bar that snowballed into the deadly shooting.
Greenville police say two open warrants have been issued for James Richardson’s arrest.
Police say they have found the BMW that was used in the drive by.
But they still don’t know if Richardson acted alone.
