What is the best way to improve community relations?
    Learn to better communicate.
And that’s what student speakers did on Monday night at ECU during the Jim Rees Oratorical Exhibition.
Student speakers talked about everything from childhood obesity, to women relations and race relations.
Instructors say in today’s world, if you don’t speak well…who will listen?
“The problem is people think I can have a conversation—I can do a speech,” said ECU School of Communication prof Pamela Hopkins.  “What you find is so many people have very poor communication skills and in today’s world this is the skill that’s going to take you far.“
This is the 7th year the oratorical which is named after communications professor Jim Rees who recently died of cancer.
