LONDON (AP) - British bank officials have learned the hard way why it’s important to wipe a hard drive clean before unloading a computer on eBay. The banking details of more than one million people who used the Royal Bank of Scotland had been on a computer that was sold on eBay. That included account numbers, passwords, cell phone numbers and signatures. A former employee for the archiving company Graphic Data had sold the computer on eBay. The buyer, Andrew Chapman, contacted authorities when he found the bank account information. Britain’s Information Commissioner’s Office has launched an investigation.
