Youtube opens shopping portal

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - It’s where millions of us go to check out videos. Now, YouTube wants to become the place where you go to buy the latest videos, not to mention music, TV shows, concert tickets and other products. The site has rolled out a shopping portal that lets users click on buttons under YouTube videos. Those who click the links will be taken to offers that give them the chance to purchase products that are featured in a particular clip. To begin with, YouTube is selling music from two major labels, EMI and Universal and video games made by Electronic Arts. But eventually YouTube hopes to get movie and TV studios to sell their films and shows alongside their video clips.
