KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Randy Owen, lead singer of the country group Alabama, will hold a benefit concert in Knoxville for victims of last month’s church shooting that left two dead and six wounded.
Owen called Knoxville radio station WIVK-FM last week asking if he could do anything to help after the July 27th shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Mike Hammond, the station’s program director, suggested Owen do the concert.
Jim Adkisson is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on 1 million dollars bond.
He allegedly said his hatred of liberals caused him to target the church, which has been active in social issues.
