A church in the east is lending a helping hand to people in these tough economic times.

Koinonia Christian Center Church in Greenville normally holds a harvest fest as a Halloween alternative.

But this year, the church decided to take that money and make a difference in the community.

The church raised enough money to help buy a home for someone, give out 18 of their own *stimulus packages* and renovate homes for five senior citizens.

Bishop Rosie O’Neal says it’s part of their mission for helping those here at home.

O’Neal says the church plans to pick up with harvest fest again next year.
