Should Greenville’s Town common look more like New York’s Central Park?
People who say yes are getting their chance to talk to city developers.
Greenville’s Recreation and Parks Department held the second of four listening sessions to hear what the public would like to see added along the Tar River.
The city says the centralized park needs to keep up with the city’s redevelopment plan.
People already have a list of additions and improvements they’d like to see.
They include a pedestrian bridge, memorials and better river access for boaters.
But, how much will it cost?
“It is probably a plan that is paid for over many years,” said Gary Fenton, Director of Recreation and Parks. “Who knows how many. Who knows when we’ll be able to identify the dollar amount. Certainly, dollars might be available.”
The city has been expanding the park since 1970.
