Published: October 7, 2008
(Onslow County) Onslow County Public Library hosts Ha-Ha-Halloween, a series of free family-fun events that celebrate the lighter side of Halloween. The entire family is invited to join Story Yeller Scooter Hayes in Monster Mayhem –a humorous storytelling program dedicated to the unsung beasts and creatures of the monster world. Crafted with humor, manic rhythm, and oodles of wackiness, Scooter’s stories send his audience to an enchanting world of imagination and discovery. His style has been labeled as non-traditional, pioneering, hysterical, and action packed. Scooter doesn’t spin yarns. Never did learn how to sew. He does, however, slang stories, songs, and poems in a playful, unique, hip, and hilarious fashion. Scooter will capture the heart, delight the soul and tickle the funny bone of children of all ages. Children of all ages are invited to wear their funniest Halloween costume! Monster Mayhem will take place Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 pm at Dixon Elementary School; Friday, October 24 at 6:30 pm at Swansboro Middle School; on Saturday, October 25 at 3:00 pm at the Main Library in Jacksonville; and on Tuesday, October 28 at 6:30 pm at Richlands High School.
A special appearance by award-winning South East Paranormal Investigators Society (SEPIA) will also take place on Saturday, October 25 at 3:00 pm at the Main Library in Jacksonville. While children enjoy Scooter Hayes in Monster Mayhem, adults and teens are invited to join Eric and Jessica Dionne of SEPIA along with psychic/medium Joanna Henry-Quewes for an informative seminar about the paranormal. The Dionne’s have investigated places such as Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Massachusetts; Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and many local places in Eastern North Carolina. Ms. Henry-Quewes has worked along side with America’s Most Wanted. Topics covered include the history of ghost hunting, how to investigate the paranormal, evidence of spirit activity and more. All are welcome to meet SEPIA team members and be entered to win free door prizes.
All events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more, please contact Onslow County Public Library at 910.455.7350 or visit us online, anytime at http://www.onslowcountync.gov/library.
