They call it Riley’s Army and it’s named after a little girl who has survived cancer.
They were busy recruiting for Riley’s Army in Greenville.
This is the first survivor’s dinner for Riley’s Army made up of pediatric cancer survivors between the ages of 4 to 29.
They told stories of survival and offered moral support for new members.
Founders say it’s about gaining strength through each other.
“You gain strength from them and that’s exactly what we want to do with Riley’s Army is get there family’s together so they can draw strength from each other,” said Riley’s Army co-founder Kelly Philpot.
Each year 150 children are diagnosed with cancer in eastern North Carolina.
