CONSUMER WATCH: Feds protecting shoppers, consumer confidence expected to show improvement
The Federal Reserve is taking steps to protect shoppers.
They’re working to shield shoppers from giant fees on their ATM and debit card transactions.
Right now, if you withdraw more than what’s in your account, the overdraft fee can be as much as 39 dollars.
Starting next summer, banks can’t enroll you in the overdraft program at all, unless you agree ahead of time.
And we’ll know more about consumer confidence later today.
Economists expect the newest consumer sentiment index to show a slight improvement, which could signal people are ready to spend more freely.
