List of Consumer Complaints Released; Complaints are Up

If you don’t like getting calls from bill collectors or telemarketers, you’re not alone there.
A newly released top ten list of consumer complaints shows what grievances people had during the last year.
The survey shows that complaints are up.
62 percent of the agencies surveyed said complaints were up from the previous year.
The Consumer Federation of America says the economy is to blame for some of the complaints, but misleading ads for car sales and poor home improvement and construction jobs once again topped the list.
Some agencies say it pays to complain, since they will help you try to get back any money lost.
“It does work.  State and local consumer protection agencies can’t promise to resolve everyone’s complaints, no one can, but they certainly will try to help you,“ said Susan Grant, who is with the Consumer Federation of America.
Almost half of the agencies surveyed say the economy forced them to cut back on their resources.
They say that affected their ability to help consumers.
