UPDATE: Bookkeeper held on $100,000 bond after embezzling from employer
A bookkeeper for a local business in the east is behind bars on embezzlement charges.
The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office tells Nine On Your Side that Alecia Staton turned herself in to authorities this morning.
Staton is accused of embezzling $75 thousand dollars from Energy Savers Metal Roofing between December of 2007 and October of 2009.
She is currently being held at the Pitt County Detention Center under $100 thousand dollar bond.
