A dental assistant has been arrested for forging prescriptions for some powerful painkillers.

SBI agents and the New Bern Police Department arrested Tania Belinda Torres.

On October 22 and charged her with eight counts of obtaining a controlled substance by forgery in Craven County.

Torres was employed as a dental assistant, but it was not released where she worked.

Agents say she forged prescriptions for hydro-codone and oxy-codone for unlawful sale.

Torres was placed in the Craven County Jail under an 80 thousand dollar secured bond.
