Grocery store cashier charged with embezzlement

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Offices tells Nine On Your Side that they’ve arrested a grocery store employee on charges of embezzlement.

It happened on October 20th.

28 year old Chiquita Latrice Cannon of LaGrange is charged with with 12 counts of larceny by employee and 12 counts of embezzlement for illegally and purposely “sliding” items to customers.

A 3 month investigation found that Cannon was not ringing up items brought to the register or sliding an item significantly cheaper in place of the regular bar code.  Likewise, she would not ring up groceries at all in some cases.

Cannon was placed in the Lenoir County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.
