Rocky Mount Police tell Nine On Your Side that a K-9 unit apprehended a suspect in this morning’s residential breaking and entering.

It happened this morning on Clayton Street.

Authorities say the home was occupied at the time a suspect came in through a back window.  He’s described as a black male with dreadlocks wearing a white shirt, black pants and carrying a green bag.  No items were reported stolen and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Officers searched the area including the Amos Street Park and took Jerel ONeal Knight into custody near Haggerty Trail with 45 minutes of the incident.

Knight will be charged in another breaking an entering on Clayton Street that happened just prior to the initial report as well.
