Troy, Mich. (January 15, 2007) — Implementation has begun on Havelock’s new public safety software system that will allow the city to share critical incident information with Craven County and New Bern, N.C. The City of Havelock recently signed a contract to license New World Systems’ integrated Aegis/MSP® Public Safety solution on the Microsoft® platform.
After struggling with their current system and experiencing support issues, the City of Havelock began looking for a new public safety solution nearly three years ago and later partnered with Craven County and New Bern to select New World Systems.
“The dependability of public safety software relies heavily on the dependability of the vendor,” said Bob Maxbauer, IT Director for the City of Havelock. “We were looking for a vendor with many successful installs and a positive track record of service after the sale. We found that with New World.”
New World will provide the City of Havelock with Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Mobile Computing and Justice Link software developed in-house using proven Microsoft® technology, industry-standard Windows® Server and SQL Server. New World’s solution will provide users much easier access to information from a single database and offer seamless integration with common Microsoft applications for improved reporting capabilities. New World’s Mobile Computing and Field-Based Reporting will also give officers access to information and the ability to submit reports while out in the community.
“Our officers have not had the ability to do field-based reporting before,” said Maxbauer. “They are looking forward to not only accessing the application at a desktop, but from the mobile units as well.”
The city is also looking forward to having an increased ability to share information with Craven County and New Bern. The cities and county rely heavily on each other to respond to emergencies and keep their communities safe.
“We need the cooperation and interaction of the county and other municipalities,” said Maxbauer. “We’ve always had it to a degree, but with New World’s software we will overcome our limitations. It will take us to the next level with the ability to share information and compatibility.”
The City of Havelock will use New World’s solution to better serve a population of more than 21,000 residents. Another important factor in their decision to select New World is the ever-expanding functionality of New World’s offerings. The software will grow as the city’s needs grow, offering Havelock more options for public safety as well as public administration.
“New World offers a municipal package as well,” said Maxbauer. “I must admit, another deciding factor was the fact that they could supply and support both sides of the house, Public Safety and Public Administration in the future.”
