Woman Faces Embezzlement Charges

On January 17, 2008, New Bern Police officers arrested a woman for stealing from her employer. Officers began investigating suspicious financial transactions at the Cowell’s Cleaners located on Glenburnie Road in early January. 
 
Management from the cleaners reported fraudulent debit card transactions occurred at the business beginning in November of 2007. The total amount of money taken from Cowell’s has not been determined at this time. The investigation into the fraudulent activity is ongoing.
 
Amber JONES, also known as Amberley Michelle JONES and Amberley Francis JONES, 02/11/1977, of Pamlico County, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with Embezzlement and Financial Transaction Card Fraud. She had worked for Cowell’s Cleaners since February of 2007.
 
JONES made a first appearance in court January 17, 2008, at 9 a.m.
