Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

A New Bern man faces drug charges after police stopped his car Thursday on Clark Avenue near Washington Street.
On January 17, 2008, at 11:15 p.m., officers spotted a white Mercury Grand Marquis with a revoked registration plate. During the traffic stop, officers and a police K-9 searched the vehicle and located cocaine underneath the driver’s seat.
The driver, Jurelle Leshawn HUNT, 01/30/1986, of 2305 Aycock Ave., was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance, Driving with No Insurance and Displaying a Revoked Registration Plate.
HUNT was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court January 18, 2008.
