People go to church to worship.
But it seems, some people are paying church a visit, and stealing from it.
“Glass you know it was on the desk, some on the window pane, some in the bathroom--they hit it and then drug it out,” said senior pastor Scott Coghill of Pleasant Acres Free Will Baptist Church.
He’s keeping his composure, after all--crime isn't something new to him.
"We've had some churches catch fire, some people burning churches in the last couple of years. Had a good friend of mine of the ministry actually get a shot in a church,” said Coghill.
Pastor Coghill says, they’re getting vandalism and burglary at their church.
"I know of break-ins. You never think it's going to happen to you. But it does happen,” he said.
The most recent break-in happened the first week of the New Year. Two others occurred last year.
According to Coghill, whoever did it, got away with computers and cash, but left behind --damage. Pastor Coghill says it totals at approximately $4,000.
“We're the biggest thing on the road...it kind of catches your eye and if somebody wants something there going to come in and get it,” said Coghill.
Which leaves the question--who did it?
“The Sheriff's Department and police--all around different areas--they maybe could watch over churches and hot spots that really could help the people who are not there to protect,” said Coghill. We run 350 people that whoever stole, stole from them.”
Pastor Coghill hopes investigators will catch these criminals before they try to break-in once again.
