Police say they have captured the gunman who shot and killed four men near the Virginia border on Sunday.
Mount Airy police say the gunman, who has been identified as Marcos Gonzalez, shot the men at Woods TV store around 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Police say they don’t believe the shooting was a random event.
Surry County officials say two of the victims died at the store, the other two were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say witnesses who heard the shooting, are a major help in the investigation.
“Of course it is a community effort. If the witnesses hadn’t of come forward we probably wouldn’t be the way we are right now with our investigation,” said Mount Airy Police Chief, Dale Watson.
The victims’ names or a motive have not been released.
Police charged Gonzalez with 4 counts of murder.
He was captured at a Virginia motel without incident early Monday morning.
