The Arc of North Carolina, East Carolina Behavioral Health and Monarch recently bought and renovated four two-bedroom homes with the idea of giving them to eight people with disabilities. The units are close to everything they need.
The Executive Director of Arc of North Carolina, David Richard, says “What we know is so many people can live more successfully in independent community settings in communities like this to be a part of the community rather than separate. So this opportunity to come here and have these kind of units in typical neighborhoods next to neighbors who will know them and care about them is absolutely what we’re looking for.“
The organizations did the same thing in Greenville back in October.
