Suspect sought in December MacDonald Downs fire

Officials in Havelock need your help to find the person(s) responsible for a break-in and fire that severely damaged a MacDonald Downs home in December.

Authorities say investigation into the fire revealed a break-in had occurred and that whoever did it may have intentionally set fire to each room of the home in an effort to cover their tracks.

Havelock Police, the Havelock Fire Marshall’s office and an arson investigator with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident.

Officials in Havelock tell Nine On Your Side that fire crews responded to a second structure fire today.

It happened at 1:30PM on E. MacDonald Blvd.

Two Fire Companies responded to the one story structure that housed a single family.  Damage assessment is underway.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
