More help is on the way for millions of people unemployed in the U.S.

A bill is on the way to President Obama’s desk, one that would extend unemployment benefits for three and a half months.

The House signed off on the 24 billion dollar legislation today.

Without it, more than a million people would see their benefits cut by the end of the year.

Those unemployed in the hardest hit states will get an additional six weeks on top of the extension.

Some lawmakers say more still needs to be done.

Also included in the bill, an extension on the eight thousand dollar tax credit for first time home buyers.
