New Bern Police tell Nine On Your Side that one of their officers helped deliver a baby girl Sunday morning after responding to a 911 call.

It happened on Simmons Street.

Officers were sent to the residence after an extreme language barrier between the caller and the telecommunicator left the type of emergency undeterminable.

Arriving on scene, it was communicated to the officer that a woman was pregnant.  He found her to be in full labor.  The woman’s child, a girl, was born just ten minutes after the initial 911 call was placed.

The baby was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center.

She’s healthy and doing well.
