NC State grad is finalist for CNN's Hero of the Year award
A North Carolina State University graduate is a top ten finalist for CNN’s Hero of the Year award.
Thirty-year-old Doc Hendley started the non profit group Wine to Water, an effort to bring clean water to third world countries. The project began back in 2004 when, according to Hendley, he learned that unsanitary water was killing more people than aids, malaria and TB.
Hendley held several wine events around Raleigh to raise money for the cause. And his non-profit took off. Since then, he’s helped sanitize drinking wells for 25,000 people in seven different countries.
You can vote for Hendly on http://www.CNN.com. Voting ends Nov. 18. Anderson Cooper will announced the winner Thanksgiving Day.
