PCMH Health Care Worker, Suspected H1N1 Case
There’s another suspected case of H1N1 flu here in the east, and this time it’s a health care worker employed at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Because of the confidentiality policy involving healthcare workers, PCMH won’t release the name of the employee in question.
What we do know is the person was experiencing five to six flu-like symptoms and was sent home Thursday.
Those patients are being monitored and are receiving appropriate treatment.
Keith Ramsey M.D, PCMH Medical Director of Infection Control said, “The patients who may have been potentially exposed to this health care worker have been given the appropriate anti-viral antibiotic Tami flu and we’re also working with other health care workers at PCMH who may have had face-to-face contact with the health care worker in question.“
Ramsey says a sample has been sent to the state lab, and results should be available by Monday.
